About Vauterhill

Vauterhill is situated amongst the rolling hills of North Devon. The stud was originally established by Mr Frank Heal (pictured below on the right) over 60 years ago, but moved to Vauterhill 30years ago where Graham has built and expanded on his father's expertise.

The aim of the stud is to provide mare owners with good class stallions at reasonable prices well within the budgets of most small breeders.

Our keep charges are kept to a minimum. Mares have access to over 200 acres of good clean pasture, grazed intermittently with sheep but can alternatively board in traditional stables around a central courtyard.

Stallions which have stood at the stud have been responsible for producing a wealth of winners over the years, including a Scottish National winner, Midlands National winners, Whitbred Gold Cup winner, Lanzarote Hurdle winner and countless more smaller wins.

On the showing scene the stallions have sired 4 Wembley Supreme Champions (Hunters), Cob of the Year and many more county champions.

In recent years Vauterhill has been standing primarily National Hunt stallions. Vauterhill is currently the home of Arvico who has sired Grade 1 winners over fences. Vauterhill also stands 10 other stallions providing mare owners with excellent variety and choice.

We feel privileged to have been able to retain the services of our veterinary surgeon, Mr Brian Crawford. His wealth of experience and knowledge of breeding is second to none.

Whilst our fertility figures are consistently high, we still operate on a No Foal No Fee basis (Oct 1st terms ) for all the stallions.

At Vauterhill we try to keep things as simple and uncomplicated as possible, providing an excellent service without breaking the bank.
